Event Details

The January membership meeting of the Putnam County Historical Society will be on Saturday January 25th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Bronson-Mulholland House, 100 Madison Street, Palatka. Please note the date change to the 4th Saturday of the month.

Our presenter will be Putnam County author Bob H. Lee. He will speak about his first fictional novel, a murder thriller set on the St. Johns River and nearby locales in northeast Florida, called Bones in Water.

Bob is a former lieutenant and thirty-year veteran of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. During his career, he caught hundreds of poachers in the act and through complex wildlife investigations. The officers he worked with and the characters he met form the foundation for his first two nonfiction works, “Backcountry Lawman” and “Bad guys, Bullets, and Boat Chases.” These two books along with his new release will be available for purchase at $20.00 each. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Cash is preferred.

Mr. Lee is generously planning to share proceeds from the books sold at this program with the Putnam County Historical Society. These funds will be used to purchase archival materials to preserve recent donations to the Society including a collection relating to Hubbard Hart’s steamboats and historical material related to the community of Edgar, and the Edgar family.

Bob will be on site until 1:00 PM for book sales and signing. Anyone still waiting to obtain books at closing time will be accommodated. Light refreshments will be provided.
